TeleCare
TeleCare is a free telephone reassurance program for the growing number of older adults who live alone and are at risk of sudden illness, falls, accidents, victimization and social isolation. It’s an extra layer of security that gives seniors added confidence and is a great way for family members to know their elder loved ones are being checked on.
How does TeleCare work?
Trained volunteers call program participants each weekday at an arranged time to check on their well being. If the person does not answer and the volunteer has not been notified of any change, the volunteer then follows established procedures for contacting the participant’s backup or the sheriff if necessary. The calls may be tailored to a particular situation, for example, medication reminders may be provided.
How are services arranged?
In order to be a part of the program, participants complete a simple registration form. The form includes contact information which is helpful to staff in case a problem arises and there is a need for follow-up. Contact Benzie Home Health Care (1-231-325-0138) for more information or to request a registration form. Once you have completed the form, you will start receiving your daily calls from the volunteer. To print out the registration form, click on following link: TeleCare Program Application.
Who can receive TeleCare calls?
TeleCare services are available to seniors 60 years of age and older who live alone within Benzie County.
Is there any charge for this service?

What happens if no one answers?
The participant agrees to notify Benzie Home Health Care (1-231-325-0138) if they do not plan to be home for the scheduled call. Established emergency measures will be instituted when the volunteer receives no answer, including contacting the participant’s emergency backup. Occasionally it has been necessary to contact the sheriff’s office to request a welfare check.
