walkathonThe Walk-A-Thon is a major source of funding for Benzie Home Health Care.  We encourage all ages and levels of participation—walk, run, bike, or sponsor.  Every dollar raised through our Walk-A-Thon stays in Benzie County and benefits our local seniors.  Other creative ways to raise funds are also encouraged.  These may include car washes; bake sales or contributing proceeds from doing odd jobs.  The efforts of both the young and “not so young” are most appreciated by our organization and those we serve.

The first Walk-A-Thon was held in 1981, under the leadership of Jim Petteys of the Benzie County Ministerial Association.  That first Walk-A-Thon raised $4000 with 57 people walking 12 miles along Crystal Lake.

Today’s route is still along Crystal Lake’s South Shore, Preparing brunch tableConnie Sister Daniellebut is now 6 miles in length (or whatever you are able to do).  At the end of the walk or bike ride or jog, a delicious brunch awaits.  The 29th annual Walk-A-Thon was held Saturday, August 1, 2009 with nearly 100 participants and over $15,000 in pledges raised.
