On Thursday, November 4, Jolene Brackey will present an all day workshop for all professional caregivers in Northwest Michigan on creating positive outcomes in difficult situations for clients and families dealing with Alzheimers disease. The objectives will be to discuss a new perspective of Alzheimers disease, to identify the treasures in each individual and how to incorporate those treasures into a memory enhanced program, and to describe how to create moments that will ease daily struggles and offer comfort. Benzie Home Health Care is excited to announce a Family Caregiver Retreat to be held Friday, November 5 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. BHHC is working together with Benzie Council on Aging to sponsor this event, a day for caregivers to relax, restore and renew. Nationally known author and inspirational speaker Jolene Brackey will speak in the morning. Her book, Creating Moments of Joy, has become a valuable resource for both professionals and caregivers.
There will be information on community resources, a program on identity theft and fraud, head and neck massage, manicures, flu and pneumonia shots, blood pressure screening, a variety of craft workshops and a musical program by the Curtis Family. Lunch will be provided by the chef from the Gathering Place. Registration forms will be available at The Maples, Paul Oliver Long Term Care, Benzie Home Health Care and Benzie Council on Aging.

Did you see us? You couldn’t miss the giant pasty!! Hope to see you Saturday, July 10th for our pasty dinner fundraiser (see below). This is a kickoff event for our 30th annual Walk-A-Thon on Saturday, August 7. Packets and information for the Walk-A-Thon will be available at the dinner and then at our office. We need your participation this year more than ever!
